Explosive growth: Twitter apps/tools weekly round up

Last time I did the twitter app round up was exactly two weeks ago (Sorry I have been simply overwhelmed with the amount of work it is involved to keep track, interview, analyzing these twitter app and founders), just to give you an idea how explosive twitter eco system’s growth – I only track a very tiny portion of the twitter apps that I came across individually, in two weeks of time I discovered 37 more twitter apps/tools, many of them are so important to twitter eco system that they possess technology even twitter may drool over. I won’t say who they are but you should get an idea after rounding these bad boys up. (in no particular orders).

Killer Apps

Twine.com: Keep Up with What You are Into – Twine is a smarter way to keep track of your interest, my understanding is it does sementic search on web including twitter to help people discover and share interests.

Twazzup.com: search twitter and present insights in real time. Launched only on April 13, 2009, it has garnered tremendous positive responses and huge following. I have used it over and over for all kinds of searches, simply put – Twazzup is MONEY! I had the opportunity to meet up with Twazzup founder/CEO Cyril for an in-depth interview, which I shall post in the coming days. Stay tuned.

Tweetphoto.com: direct competitor to twitPic.com, it brings a refreshing approach, more robust feature sets, and emphasis on social component. Launched on April 30, 2009, Job well done.

TwitDoc.com: a little known startup project out of Colorado, other than it’s “scribd.com” in the twitter world, and TechCrunch’s report about it, no one seems to know too much about it. It allows people share all types of documents on twitter easily, I had the opportunity to “speak” with the founder and interview is coming up!

BackTweets.com: link search on twitter – built by “gentlemen” behind backType.com, a Y-Combinator baby. They just rolled out “advanced search” this weekend; check out backtweets.com/search

Bubbletweet.com: a little lighthearted, it does mean business; Developed by “notorious” @bubbleGuru, it gives you a dead simple tool to “Add a Video To Your Twitter Page In Seconds”, super popular.

TwiMailer.com: it’s a “email dispatch” middleman that never stores any of your twitter DMs/Emails, but simply rip them to your original email you provide with twitter. I have not personally used it but know it’s a quality service. Let our Aussie developer explain it to you here:

TweetName.com: because of its originality and high profile of its founder, the news about tweetName were all over the Internet. It claims to be the first and the easiest way to get a domain name online (through twitter or not), even @ev the CEO of twitter himself tested/used the service. TechCrunch went into length to report it. Let’s say what TweetName say about themselves:

TwitterImage.com
twitter image
“Here, at TwitterImage.com, we think the right image is everything.” Simply put, it gives you the tool to customize your twitter background, there are additional free twitter background, however to get it customized to your business/personal need, TwitterImage.com offers paid tool, and it ain’t cheap. If image is your thing (and it should, especially for resource limited small businesses), take a look.

TwitterMass.com
twittermass
After a brief use, I personally think TwitterMass is a quality product, the best follower management tool for me. The tool is so intuitive and easy to use even I don’t dislike it, even though I am not a big fan of “follower management” tool myself.

Upcoming, promising,  success remaining to be seen

twanswers.net: it works in a very interesting way –
You start with sending a question to @askthat on twitter, in around two or three minutes you will receive an @reply with your answer; you can also browse other users questions and even try to help them by submitting an answer. It’s an automatic answer searching tool.

tweetbrain.com: It’s like Yahoo Answers for twitter, see my interview with founder “Dexing”

tweetBios.com: it’s a very interesting tool let you “Easily create a simple extended bio that gives your followers, potential followers, and the people you’re following a better sense of who you are”

directtextbook.com
It searches twitter.com and beyond to get the best price for the book you want using ISBN # of the book.

tweetcruit.com: claims to be the best recruiting platform on twitter (is there such thing?). I did not get it within 30 seconds but someone else may have.

twiddeo.com: Twiddeo is a powerful but simple service that let’s you do one thing very well: Twitter updates with Video. Upload from the web, your cameraphone and record from your webcam. That simple, that straightforward, that great!

TwitAddict.com: coming out of Mesiab Labs out of Idaho, TwitAddict.com is a live stream of variety of keywords. To be honest, I don’t really get this although the popularity of TwitAddict.com is obvious. Twazzup does a million more things plus live streaming much better.

MillionDollarFollow.com: coming out the same developer of “TwitterMass.com”, MillionDollarFollow.com is an innovative tool letting people bid to win followers. Again, not my types of long term, value added service, but it’s indeed very smart. It claims that “The system will randomly select one advertiser to receive one million followers when the millionth ad spot is sold. I don’t know how exactly this plays with Twitter’s policy, but I suggest you read MillionDollarFollow.com’s “user agreement” carefully. Essentially, it’s a lottery system where it makes money (your $1) out of mass, and give followers to the lucky winner.

PornStarTweet.com: I had a chance to interview the orthodox fortune 50 veteran, CEO of pornstartweet.com, it’s the ultimate user case of how a business uses twitter. It’s all about getting personal, sharing information, be authentic. Mainstream businesses can learn from it.

TweetCall.com: Update Twitter from anywhere by simply speaking into a telephone. 1-877-TWEETCALL is completely free;

printyourtwitter.com: I had a dream one night (for real) that I would develop a tool letting people print out their tweets into a book, like Mixbook.com printing your digital online photos into photo album, little did I know someone from some dark corner of the world was already hard working on that, this is crazy! Basically, it lets you print your tweets and keep them forever, create a diary of your life. Nicely done but I am not really sure how this can become a business. Not even Google can make a living scanning the world’s books…JK!

Hardcore engineered, Serious Killer but Outside of Twitter.com
quub.com: backed by a professor, quub wants you to share really “what you are doing”, not all the crap going on on twitter. But, that is why we all love twitter isn’t it?

scoopler.com: real time conversation/information search engine, developed by Oxford and MIT geeks. It does not search all twitter conversation. It focuses on entire web.

NextStop.com: Nextstop helps you explore the world around you through recommendations and guides people create, which includes twitter conversation.

Presentlyapp.com: present.ly means right now. It claims the best way to share real time information with your co-workers, right now. See their video intro.
